Bridging collaborations across the Pacific
At EthDenver, when every brand is vying for your attention, determined focus and a support team are required to produce anything, let alone win hackathon bounties. You can attend an event, or you can participate, with intention. DAO East West is a new offspring of MetaCartel, with the intention of bridging collaborations across the Pacific Ocean. There are more opportunities to coordinate with time zones across the Atlantic Ocean, then the Pacific, which may stem from traditional business relations between places like New York and London. However we came to this imbalance of coordination, DAO East West is making efforts to bring more voices to the table. As a global collective of freelancers building in Web3, Raid Guild is another offspring of MetaCartel and the first service DAO. As leaders in the DAO and Web3 ecosystems and with members who are also contributors to DAO East West, Raid Guild and Nonce, a community and builder’s village with four-hundred members located in Seoul, Korea, are partnering to bring thirty Web3 developers and designers together for EthDenver hackathon.Efforts towards the mission of the Raid Guild & Nonce hack are supported by friends throughout the DAO ecosystem in the form of mentorships, collaborations, grants and sponsorships. Overflowing gratitude to the following.MetaCartel, ETHos pod, awarded a 1.23 WETH grant to support hackers. MetaCartel members are also offering support by mentoring during the hackathon. Mentors include CupOJoseph, scottrepreneur, Rolf Hoefer, Sam Kuhlmann and Dekan Brown, all of which have been building in Web3 and DAOs, specializing in smart contracts and full stack development, UX/UI and systems design.EthDenver has awarded scholarships to 20 hackers and are looking forward to showcasing the Raid Guild & Nonce collaborations in their socials.Led by CupOJoseph, Keyp Castle, a hacker house sponsored by Keyp development tools, has offered beds to hackers, as well as workshop and hacking space. CupOJoseph is also sponsoring an amount of 1500 XDAI.Because Raid Guild developers enjoy doing things like whip up novel smart contracts as a weekend project, the guild will be experimenting with token gating and utility, while facilitating communications between Nonce and Raid Guild. Hedgey NFTs, locked with RAID token, are being gifted from Raid Guild to Nonce hackers as a key into token gated Discord channels in the Raid Guild server, giving Nonce hackers access to internal conversations about the newest builds in Web3, as well as troubleshooting conversations with Raid Guild developers.Nonce community stewards, Sujin and Duke, are coordinating all the things that it takes to get twenty people across an ocean and half a continent. While it’s impressive, it’s also not surprising considering the intentionality of their vibrant community.Volunteer coordination team includes BorrowLucid, Plor, Sujin Keen, Duke Duke, Sky and LyingGallery.Nonce hackers are in the midst of a multi week bootcamp for building in Web3 and Raid Guild hackers are experienced in Solidity, Rust, Subgraph, Hard Hat, Zero Knowledge Proofs, decentralized data storage, front end, back end, Defi, Refi, DataFi, DeSci, NFTs and, of course, DAOs.Leading up to the hackathon, the volunteer coordination team will be collecting information about past hackathon winners and current hackathon bounties. Plor, Raid Guild project manager, will be leading the support of hackathon teams to improve their chances of presenting successful projects. Funds are managed by a sibling DAO of Raid Guild, using DAOhaus. Projects and teams looking to support Raid Guild & Nonce hack at EthDenver are welcome to do so. What is needed most, currently, is ways to entice and facilitate collaboration and relationship building. Some options for this could be,Bounty prizes, rewarding hackers who are contributing to the bridging of the communities and are collaborating across organizationsCommunity outings to memorable experiences in or near Denver Look out for Raid Guild & Nonce builders on the EthDenver hackathon leaderboard.
